Electrical Box Furnace Shipped To Major High Tech Ceramics And Glass Manufacturer For Ceramic Composites

L&L Special Furnace has shipped a floor-standing furnace to a worldwide leader of high tech ceramics and associated components located in the Northeastern United States. The furnace will be used for glass components along with fiber optics and research and development. It will also be used to fill in on various thermal projects and development.

The work zone in the furnace is 24” wide by 16” high by 32” deep, with a temperature gradient of ±20°F at 1,100°F using two zones of temperature control with biasing to balance any temperature gradients.

The control instrument is a Eurotherm EPC3004 program control that has 10 individual programs with up to 10 segments for each program. The furnace also has overtemperature protection with manual reset and backup safety contactors. There is a NEMA12 panel and fused disconnect. Solid-state relays are used to fire the resistance coils. An audible and visual stack light is included to show current furnace status and inform the operator of any alarm conditions.

An atmosphere-sealed case allows the furnace to be operated under a protective atmosphere blanket. This option gives the operator the ability to displace the oxygen in the chamber with either nitrogen or argon to provide a virtually oxygen-free environment.

Options include a variety of control and recorder configurations. An optional three-day, all-inclusive startup service is offered with each system within the continental US and Canada. International startup and training service is available by factory quote.
